Straight Teeth, No Braces - Orthodontics Unwired

For decades traditional braces were the only option for adults who wanted straighter teeth. Now there is a revolutionary new way of straightening teeth. The Invisalign System offers the first true alternative, by utilizing advances in 3-D imaging technology to create a series of customized plastic aligners. What is Invisalign? Invisalign is a whole new way to straighten teeth invisibly. This system uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without any metal wires or brackets. These devices are made through a combination of your orthodontist’s expertise and 3-D computer imaging technology. As each aligner is replaced with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your orthodontist has prescribed. The aligners are worn day and night, except to eat, brush, and floss. You’ll quickly discover Invisalign has a number of important advantages over metal braces: comfort - no metal brackets, no wires, no permanent fixtures (in fact, the Invisalign plastic aligners fit so seamlessly over your teeth, you’ll barely remember that you’re wearing them); undetectable - what you can’t see is what you get (like contact lenses for your teeth!); removable - the aligners pop in and out for eating, brushing, and
flossing (more convenience and better oral hygiene than permanent braces). Our office has found that the best results with Invisalign are found with the following case types: mild (1-3mm) or moderate (4-6mm) spacing among the upper or lower teeth; mild (1-3mm) or moderate (4-6mm) crowding among the upper or lower teeth; relapse (those who have worn braces when they were younger and whose teeth gradually became misaligned again); and narrow arches (when the upper or lower "arch" of teeth is so narrow that it causes crowding of the front teeth). More challenging diagnoses may be treated with a combination of braces and Invisalign. The scientific concept behind using a series of customized removable appliances to treat a case from start to finish, Align Technology’s Invisalign System, first appeared in orthodontic literature in the 1940s. Align Technology leverages state-ofthe-art computer technology to make this approach to orthodontic therapy practical for the first time. Align Technology is conducting a number of private and university-based ongoing clinical studies across the U.S. To ensure the best possible orthodontic results, please call Peninsula Periodontics & Orthodontics for a free diagnostic appointment.
