"Advertising in the Local Book Pays"
By Jack Morita of Local Book Publishing

The Local Book Telephone Directory has made a major impact on residents and businesses alike, receiving many compliments on its easy-to-use format, special features, convenient size, and attractive cover. What does this mean for businesses? Simply said, most people love the book and prefer it over any other directory. In the past, advertisers had little choice in yellow page advertising. That has now changed. The purpose of Local Book is: make the .nest phone book ever printed; make advertising affordable for all businesses; provide the best customer service.

When the Local Book began, people were asked what they would like to see in their phone book. Using those ideas as a guideline, a directory tailored to .t this area was created. It has been a tremendous success, with over 75% of people stating they prefer to use The Local Book over any other phone book in the area! (Source: independent survey by Ver-A-Fast Corporation.)

Their second goal was to make an affordable and effective means of yellow page advertising. With rates up to 75% lower than Verizon and usage as high as it is, they have done just that. What does this mean? It means that yellow page advertising in our area is now cost effective and affordable, not just for large companies, but for all businesses. Yellow page advertising is an effective means of reaching almost every segment of the population. Even reputation or “word of mouth advertising” is greatly enhanced when a yellow page ad is used to back it up. Remember, people may know about a business, but they still use the phone book to look it up.

Customer service for Local Book means making the book as accurate and user-friendly as possible. It means delivering the book to everyone and making sure extra copies are available throughout the year. It means making the effort to meet with all businesses to assure that their listings and information are correct. It means giving businesses the opportunity to purchase beneficial and affordable advertising.

The Local Book will continue to strive to publish the best local telephone directories ever produced.

MAGGIE’S MEMO:
Local Book Publishing now has two directories in circulation, Salisbury & Surrounding Area and Ocean City & Surrounding Areas, with two more planned in the coming year. In January the Dover/Milford Area will be delivered, followed by the Rehoboth/Georgetown Area in May.

MAGGIE SAYS:
Residents and business owners have been very happy with the LOCAL BOOK. People love the added features, such as the restaurant menus and the reverse directory (look up the number to see whose it is). Its comfortable size and easy readability have made it a favorite in a very short time. We spoke with business owners who were more than pleased with the responses they were getting from their listings, “much more than the other book and more than I ever expected,” in the words of one. Look for the LOCAL BOOK, distributed free in your area.
