Summer’s Coming:
What To Do With The Kids

By Sharon Thompson of POWERKICKS

Summer’s going to be here before you know it. Kids are getting excited about their long summer break. Parents are getting excited about the warm weather. But as parents we have more on our minds than the weather. Our concerns are not how many video games we will be able to play or how late we get to sleep in. I am sure many of you out there are saying that would be great, but unfortunately most of us have to continue to work during the summer. Our concerns are what will our children be doing while we are at work. We worry about their safety and what type of activities they’ll be doing. For years adults and children have been participating in martial arts classes. Martial art gets you physically fit, mentally prepared to face life’s challenges, and teaches you to defend yourself. Three years ago POWERKICKS created the After-School Martial Arts and Summer Camp Programs. These programs combines child care with the Martial Arts. During the school year we provide transportation to more than 25 schools in
Wicomico and Somerset counties. On professional and holidays kids can be dropped off at 7:00 a.m.
During the Summer Camp kids get to experience different types of sports, arts and crafts, martial art classes, field trips and many other activities. Parents have the satisfaction of knowing their kids are in a safe, fun environment under the supervision of Black Belt instructors. Our program is tax deductible and all of our instructors are first aid and CPR certified. Remember when choosing a program for your child, it should be educational and fun. Get your money’s worth and have a great summer.

MAGGIE SAYS:
POWERKICKS has created a wonderful program for kids of all ages. One parent we met had this to say: “I chose POWERKICKS because I wanted my kids to learn discipline and self-defense. They stress that these defense skills are only to be used when there is no other option, never to go after anybody. We like that POWERKICKS is multi-cultural - there are kids of all types and sizes there. I absolutely recommend the program.”
