"Wake Up With Q105's Mike & Kelly"
By Doug Weldon, Operations Manager, Clear Channel Radio

When you turn on the radio in the morning, what do you like to hear? Music, news, traffic, weather and some fun? For years, Delmarva listeners have been waking up with Q105 (WQHQ, 104.7 on the dial), and since September, that wake up has been Mike & Kelly In The Morning.

A good radio show must have the right chemistry, and when Mike Cheney and Kelly Carter are on the air, you can sense that these are two people who like each other, even though they come from different places and have different perspectives on everything from jokes, to TV shows to everyday life on Delmarva. And of course, the right music is a key ingredient when you’re waking up folks and helping them get to work or school. Each day, Mike and Kelly play only the Best Mix of the 80s, 90s and Today, based on what people here in our community want to hear.

Listeners have applauded that stronger focus on the local community with the advent of Mike & Kelly In The Morning. Recent shows have featured the positive news at the Salisbury Zoo, as well as haunted houses on Delmarva. Of course, local news and traffic twice an hour gives the listener important information to start each day.

And Mike & Kelly’s winners list is growing rapidly, with lots of major cash awards, plus local residents receiving Valentine’s spa treatments, dinners at fine restaurants, movie DVDs and other quality prizes. Recently, the pair worked with Delmarva Bridal Showcase to award a fabulous vacation to the Caribbean island of Antigua for the most romantic love story ever.

A good morning team doesn’t happen overnight, and both Mike and Kelly have many years of experience in radio entertainment, as well as an established track record at Q105 before combining their talents on the morning show. Moreover, years ago, both put down roots on Delmarva and made a commitment to being a permanent part of the community.

You can hear that commitment, along with the music and fun stuff every day, Monday - Friday, from 5:30 to 10 AM, only on Q105.

MAGGIE’S MEMO: Q105 at 104.7 on the FM dial is developing its “best mix” to include more music variety and some fresh, brighter songs you may not have heard for awhile. As the weeks unfold, you’ll notice the change on Q105. By the way, Q105 is always keeping pace to be your choice at work, too, with the No Repeat Workday.

MAGGIE SAYS: Q105 listeners appreciate their family friendly approach mornings and throughout the day. Unlike “shock jocks,” the air staff at Q105 reflects the values of families raising children. In addition, the station’s advertisers include a “who’s who” of quality Delmarva businesses who, likewise, appreciate a quality broadcast and the successful ratings track record of Q105. The station has also recently won awards for its community service, most notably for supporting the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life™ in Wicomico County and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk™. The Salisbury Exchange Club also presented Q105 the “One Nation Under God” award for airing Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA” every day at high noon since September 11, 2001. This is a station that Maggie staff really loves and we are proud to recommend them to you.
