"Camp Fair '05 Joins the Shorebirds' 2nd
Annual Family Fun Fest"
By Robbie Tarpley Raffish
The opening day
of baseball season is full of promise – a new season, warmer weather,
family fun… and this year Your Delmarva Shorebirds want to inject
some of those warm, enthusiastic feelings into fans just a little earlier,
with Your Delmarva Shorebirds. Family Fun Fest on Saturday, March 19.
“This is the Second Annual Shorebirds. Family Fun Fest and we
have really turned it up a notch by expanding our activities for the
day,” stated Shorebirds. General Manager, Stephen Yaros. “There
will be lots of fun for the whole family. Sherman the Shorebird will
be on hand, plus we will be showcasing all the exciting things we are
preparing to celebrate our 10th Anniversary Season. We will also be
kicking off sales for individual game tickets, so the box office will
be open.
“We are particularly excited to include Camp Fair .05 in our
offerings. Families are welcomed to come and gather information about
summer camps, day cares and summer programs all under one banner –
it should be a day of great fun,” he added.
Camp Fair .05 Relocates
Last year more than 350 families visited Camp Fair when it was held
at the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. This year more than 25 camps
and summer programs are expected to attend. Camp representatives will
answer questions, provide information and, in many cases, take reservations.
“Camp Fair .05 gives parents the opportunity to plan for summer
care in a unique way,” said Clay Tarpley, whose firm, a.s.a.p.r.,
produces the event. “With all the information available in one
place, parents get a perspective of the types of programs available
across the lower shore and can finalize care choices early. Lots of
summer care programs fill up quickly, and this gives everyone equal
access.”
Some of the camps that attended last year included Camp Odyssey @
Salisbury School, Pemberton Park, Delmarva Paintball, Mid-Shore YMCA
and many others. Camps and summer programs can register to attend by
calling 410/883-2000.
Favorite Activities Return
More than 2,100 people attended Your Shorebirds. Family Fun Fest last
year, getting a sneak preview of the upcoming season. Once again the
Salisbury Jaycees will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt during this Family
Fun Fest. Children will be able to search Arthur W. Perdue’s outfield
grass in search of candy-filled Easter Eggs. Children must pre-register
at the Jaycees booth located on the concourse during Your Shorebirds
Family Fun Fest.
Fans should not forget to bring their baseball gloves! Following the
Easter Egg Hunt will be a baseball clinic put on by James M. Bennett
High School’s baseball team. Participants can learn the skills
needed to play baseball from one of the top area high school teams.
This interactive day will again be filled with activities, with three
favorites, tours of
the
stadium and the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame, and the National
Anthem auditions (beginning at 1:00 p.m. Behind Home Plate), back for
another run.
Your Shorebirds. Concession stands will be open, as well as Your Shorebird’s
Flock Shop (Gift Shop) with special sales on select merchandise and
souvenirs. This event also kicks off the first day of sales for individual
game tickets. The Box Office will be open and fans can purchase single
game tickets, fan packs and season ticket packages.
