"Women Supporting Women's 4th Annual Pink Ribbon Basket Bingo"

Thursday, March 17th, is the date for the 4th Annual Pink Ribbon Basket Bingo to benefit Women Supporting Women.

Women Supporting Women (WSW) is a grass-roots organization with NO affiliation to any national organization. We did this for a reason: so ALL our donations remain on the Eastern Shore in our own communities to provide for survivors and their families. Large organizations use most of their funding for research, which is vital to find a cure, but little is done directly for the survivors and their families. That’s where WSW comes into play. We pro-vide a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment for women diagnosed with Breast Cancer to come and share experiences and information, as well as learn.

We continue to give out can-vas bags of information through the surgeons. Offices to assist women in making their life-altering decisions. The information in the bags will help guide a woman - or a man - who has received a diagnosis of breast cancer through the surgery and treatment, including through chemotherapy, radiation, and recurrence, should it occur. We provide a free monthly newsletter and personal mentors for those who desire them. Our members and licensed facilitators are always available to share and support.

A new addition to our office is “Pat’s Boutique.” This space is dedicated to the memory of Pat Garigliano, who was an avid participant and volunteer in our group. The boutique opened last spring and was made possible by funding from Pat’s daughter, Michele. There are many varied items for sale: jewelry (some handmade); Linda’s flip flop charms; hats/caps; tapestry pillows/pocketbooks; organic teas/herbal packs; natural soaps & lotions from Coast to Coast Soap Works; women’s pins, golf pins, red hat pins (each one is an original); pink ribbon magnets, pins, necklaces, socks, stuffed bears; and piglet pillows. There are also FREE wigs which were given to us to recycle, and mastectomy bras donated by a company going out of business.

Our Salisbury office is between the library downtown and Market Street Inn, across from the city parking in the Cannon Building. We are open from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 or 4:30 (call ahead). We have chapters that meet in Somerset and Worcester Counties as well as Wicomico. The proceeds from the Pink Ribbon Basket Bingo will help us continue to help those facing this hateful disease. The event will be held at the Moose Lodge on Snow Hill Road in Salisbury. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and games will start at 7:00 p.m. Prizes will be Longaberger Baskets filled with delightful goodies. Tickets are $20.00 in advance or $25.00 at the door.
