Good News for the Women of the Eastern
Shore .... Introducing a New Breast Surgeon
By Robert J. Davis, M.D.

Dr. Patricia Riley returned to the Eastern Shore this month to establish a medical practice dedicated solely to the treatment of diseases of the breast and breast cancer. Dr. Riley was raised in Denton, worked as a college student in Ocean City, and attended the University of Maryland Medical School. She practiced as a general surgeon in California for several years before deciding to dedicate herself exclusively to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer. For the past twelve years in Los Angeles, she has been associated with several major breast centers and medical institutions and now she brings her expertise to serve the women of the Eastern Shore. Over the past few years women in increasing numbers have traveled to breast centers in Baltimore, Annapolis and Wilmington for consultations with surgeons who specialize in one area only - breast care. As the new director of the Diagnostic Breast Center at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Dr. Riley will coordinate the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease with the radiologist, medical and radiation oncologist, and other surgeons with an interest in breast disease. Her immediate goal is that any woman who finds a lump in her breast or has a positive mammogram will have a definitive diagnosis from the breast center within 48 hours. Dedicated service along with modern technology and surgical expertise should now make traveling off the shore for breast care unnecessary. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Riley as she returns home. Her role in health care will be good news for the women of the Eastern Shore. Dr. Riley’s office is located in the Milford Street Medical Center. Call 410-334-3800 for an appointment.
