Lucie has been touring the country over the past decade with her powerful, heart-warming and emotive speech, providing audiences with an insight of how to successfully balance a family and a career. Lucie draws from her own experiences, as both a child of two people with phenomenal careers, and a mother, while managing a successful career, offering a deep and evocative message. This year, the focus of Atlantic General Hospital’s Women’ s Fifth Annual Conference will address “To the Heart of Women” including mind and body wellness, prevention of heart disease, awareness and connection to one’s “heart”. To the Heart of Women is a celebration of what lies at the center of our lives. Beyond the powers of beauty, procreation and professional success, Beyond the myriad of roles allocated to us as well as those we have embraced, This Mother-Daughter event will bring us together, honoring our relationship to one another, promoting health, as women help women from the awakening of womanhood to the age of wisdom. Please come and join us. Let us acknowledge, honor and celebrate our own authentic self with vibrant health and creativity! A change of focus was unanimously approved by our Community Education Advisory Committee this year, from Breast Cancer to Heart Disease. In the US last year, 550,000 women succumbed to Heart Disease compared to 272,000 from all cancers (Breast cancer reflects 43,300). Obesity in our young adults is ever increasing. Our middle schools are indicating an increase in aggression among our young women. In collaboration with Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services, we bring to you a comprehensive forum for health, This includes holistic wellness and total health perspectives such as Heart Disease Prevention, Nutrition, Stress Management, Fitness, Relationships, Communication, Yoga, and Tai Chi, etc., With an eye on the future and cherishing the moment, we strive to inspire and educate our adolescent daughters to value themselves as we value them, to make fulfilling healthy choices in their lives from fitness to nutrition, communication and career, relationships to general health maintenance, self-nurturing and creative collaboration. We hope to set a tone for seeing one another as allies and collaborators and to offer one another positive role modeling, as well as the tools and support necessary to reach our most precious goals.
