"Women Supporting Women" Wow, have we been busy this past year! Besides providing our canvas totes full of information to the newly diagnosed, along with the chemotherapy, radiation, and recurrence bags, we now give each woman a pillow. This pillow is called a “piglet” and is used under the arm of the surgical side after her lumpectomy or mastectomy. If you know of someone recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer or starting treatment, and they haven’t received their bag, tell them to stop by the of.ce or you can come by and pick it up for them. We are open from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 or 4:30 (call ahead). In Salisbury the of.ce is between the library downtown and Market Street Inn, across from the city parking. The Berlin of.ce is on Old Ocean City Blvd. next to the Moose in the Atlantic Business Center, with hours Tues., Wed., and Thurs. from 10am - 2pm. Cris.eld chapter is still meeting in the Play With Pottery (downtown), thanks to owner Jennifer Tawes. Chemotherapy bags include cap cou-pons; come to the of.ce and pick out a cap to cover the head during treatment. Because of a great need, we are currently working on new totes for the children of those diag-nosed with breast cancer. The information will be age related and there will be “good-ies” included. A new addition to our of.ce is “Pat’s Boutique.” This space is dedicated to the memory of Pat Garigliano, who was an avid participant and volunteer in our group. The boutique opened in the late Spring and was made possible by funding from Pat’s daughter, Michele. There are many varied items for sale: jewelry (some handmade); Linda’s .ip .op charms; hats/caps; tapestry pillows/pocketbooks; organic teas/herbal packs; natural soaps & lotions from Coast to Coast Soap Works; women’s pins, golf pins, red hat pins (each one is an original); pink ribbon magnets, pins, necklaces, socks, stuffed bears; and piglet pillows. There are also FREE wigs which were given to us to recycle, and mastectomy bras donated by a company going out of business.. This year Women Supporting Women decided to take on a new look. We are de-veloping a new logo, so keep an eye open for this throughout the community. Noth-ing has changed about us; our meetings continue each month in all of our chapters: Salisbury, Berlin, and Cris.eld, and our monthly newsletter is distributed to over 800 people. Presently we are relocating our Millsboro chapter with a meeting place to be announced. We are planning an interest meeting for those with lymphedema to be announced sometime in October. Please remember that everything we offer or provide is FREE. Part of
your dona-tions go towards these services. Hopefully you won’t
need our services, but if you should, we will be there for you.
